How does the free trial work?
You get 30 days with everything in your plan. There’s no credit card to start; you only add one if you decide to stay.
Can I bring in my existing schedules and books?
Paste or import your FF&E schedule from Excel, and connect QuickBooks Online to bring across your accounts, clients, vendors, unpaid invoices and opening balances. Coming from another tool? Email us and we’ll help you plan the move.
Do my clients need an account?
No. They open a private link and enter a PIN. From there they can approve items, leave comments and pay invoices on any device.
How do client payments work?
Clients pay invoices online by card through your own Stripe or Helcim account, so the money goes straight to you. hejmae doesn’t take a cut; you pay only your processor’s standard fees.
Does it work with QuickBooks?
Yes. hejmae keeps the books for every project and sends clients, vendors, invoices, payments, refunds and expenses to QuickBooks Online as you work. Anything entered directly in QuickBooks stays there and doesn’t come back into hejmae. QuickBooks Desktop and Xero aren’t supported yet.
What does my bookkeeper get?
A free seat with access to the finances, so they can reconcile, categorize and run reports without paying for a designer seat.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. You can check projects, the schedule and floor plans from your phone, and the client portal is built for phones first. On the Studio plan you can also text photos of receipts in from the store; they’re read for you and waiting in Expenses when you’re back.
What happens if I cancel?
Cancel any time in Settings; your plan runs to the end of the period you’ve paid for. Export your schedules to Excel and your ledger to CSV whenever you like, or email us and we’ll send you a copy of your data.
Is my studio’s data secure?
Sign-in is handled by Clerk, with optional two-step verification. Card details go straight to your payment processor and never touch hejmae, and your clients only ever see what you choose to share with them. How hejmae protects your data.
Our story
Built alongside a working studio.
hejmae is built alongside Emilia Studio, a Los Angeles interior design practice. Emilia is the studio’s principal and our co-founder. Anything new in hejmae gets used on her projects before it goes near anyone else’s.
Most of what’s in the product started as something she was doing by hand on a Sunday night, or worse, in a Google Sheet the assistant kept forgetting to update. She’d describe the workflow; we’d take the spreadsheet out and put a real feature in its place.
